Bilingual Human Resources Generalist

Job Summary

True HR Generalist/Partner with knowledge of all aspects of HR and deep expertise in one or more disciplines. This role is very hands-on and responsible for driving HR projects that improve all the SCN employee lifecycle processes.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage recruitment effort for regular and temporary employees. Clarify job requirements and implement sourcing strategy, ad postings, resume screening, interview team alignment, scheduling, and feedback. Drive closure through offer to onboarding and new employee orientation. Prepare offer letters and pre-employment verifications.
  • HR DATA management.  Utilize very basic tools (Excel) to mine, analyze, present and inform the business. Provide rigorous data analysis, workforce planning and reporting solutions based on business needs.
  • Employee Communication.  Improve channels of communication on company news and organizational updates.  Build a positive Employee Brand and community image 
  • Drive compensation program refinement, management, design and market competitiveness. Manage annual merit increase and bonus process.
  • Partner with site management in the resolution of individual local HR issues, and collaborate with managers to solve complex issues. Provide guidance and direction to supervisors and managers regarding employee actions such as performance improvement plans and disciplinary actions as appropriate (up to and including terminations).
  • Define and implement HR paperwork reduction and process improvements. Execute a ‘lean HR’ approach including the design and automation of Human Resource forms and maintenance of paperless Human Resource records. Lead efforts with management on the implementation of HR processes and systems.
  • Effectively communicate HR products, perspectives, services, programs and policies as well as implication for business strategies to management and employees.
  • Career Development. Implement plans to build the leadership pipeline at all levels.
  • Facilitate and consistently improve our New Hire Orientation process.
  • Provide appropriate coaching and development feedback to build leadership capability and recommendations to close performance gaps.  Proactively assess team and employee development needs, make recommendations, and implement appropriate solutions
  • Manage and improve SCN overall Performance Management process
  • Partner with interdepartmental audits
  • Other duties as assigned


Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • BA or BS in HR or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required
  • Minimum of 3 years as a HR Generalist in a manufacturing environment. 5+ years of relevant, hands-on HR experience in HR administration project/program management with emphasis on process/quality improvement.
  • Ability to thrive in an environment with multiple competing priorities.
  • Analytical and data management skills with the ability to translate data into action planning.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; the ability to communicate to all levels of staff (from front line non-English speaking direct labor to seasoned executives) in a professional manner. Comfortable with facilitation/presentation.
  • Proven experience with MS Office products:
  • Excel expertise: data mining, analysis, organizing and presenting data for meaningful decision making
  • PowerPoint skills: creation of crisp, clean, compelling presentations
  • Start-up or turnaround experience with hands-on attention to detail.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Demonstrated project management and change management skills and ability to drive programs independently.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to build relationships at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience helping organizations scale, change, transform and grow.
  • Demonstrated experience in attracting and retaining ‘Santa Cruz’ area talent.


Physical Requirements

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
