Production Supervisor

The Production Supervisor will play an important role in developing and maintaining efficiency within the Production Department per approved standards for labor, productivity and quality as well as supervise the day-to-day activities of the department. The position will execute and organize planned production runs, assuring maximum productivity for labor usage, material usage and minimize scrap. This position will track and develop workflows and manpower scheduling to achieve production standards and the schedule and coordinate tasks between Warehouse, Planning and Quality to achieve desired product output and quality.

Essential Duties:

  • Responsible for the supervision of all employees in the production department including participation with interviewing, hiring, promoting, employee evaluations, reprimands, and weekly/daily work schedules for the employees in the department.
  • Responsible for training all production personnel in the department, ensuring that:
    • They are properly trained on all procedure and processes critical for cGMP requirements
    • They are compliant with the safe and proper procedures to operate all machinery.
    • They know and understand Company standards of quality and how to produce quality items.
    • They adhere to the company policies, including adherence to company hygiene and uniform requirements.
  • Provide leadership to leads and department personnel.
  • Develop effective workflow and staffing while managing between SCN employee and temporary staff.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all necessary paper work for production runs are completed on a daily basis.
  • Responsible for coordinating with the other departments within our manufacturing area to ensure sufficient product resources and information to meet production needs.
  • You will be responsible for other assigned tasks by the Director of Operations.
  • Manage schedule attainment, report attainment daily and report efficiency/productivity.
  • Assist in training duties.
  • Knowledgeable of Quality practices including inspection levels (AQL C=0) able to grasp, communicate and develop CTQ (critical to quality) standards and practices.
  • Effectively communicate production priorities, quality standards and company policies, including enforcement as necessary.
  • Ownership and organization of shift personnel and schedule attainment.

General Description

  • Responsible for shift’s production operations, including manufacturing and packaging processes and schedule attainment.
  • Responsible for all daily process related paperwork including tracking, communicating daily efficiencies and results to all levels of the organization.
  • Respond to technical questions and situations in the manufacturing and packaging processes.
  • Respond and report any down time, OEE and work with maintenance for maximum up time and productivity.
  • Communicate and train hourly employees on their job functions, CTQ and lean/ 5S practices
  • Ability to interact with other departments, as well as participate in development of new products.
  • Enforce safety regulations with all production employees.
  • Prepare information and assist in various certification/customer audits.
  • Follow safety guidelines as well as adhere to related listings in the Employee Policy Handbook.
  • Maintain and enforce GMP practices, safety and product quality standards.

Minimum Requirements

  • Must have managed/supervised in a regulated industry with a work force of 50+
  • Must have 3-5 years production management experience in a manufacturing or related field in a consumer product manufacturing environment, preferably nutritional vitamins or supplements
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to an ever-changing environment
  • Ability to be creative and innovative finding new solution sets as appropriate
  • Process control experience in Packaging, Process or Utilities
  • Strong leadership attitude along with training and development skills
